Book Walk
Before reading a story, have the students flip through the book and look at the pictures. Discuss what the students think the book will be about. Then read the book. After reading the book, discuss what actually happened in the book and have the students determine whether or not they were right on their guess.
Echo Reading
Echo reading is where the teacher reads and then the students read. Doing this with students helps build their fluent reading. It models what fluent reading should look like. With echo reading, you want to make sure that students are saying what you reading with the same fluency and expression.
