Motive, Moral, Main Idea
After going over the meanings of motive, moral and main idea. After reading a story, have students decide whether or not the story included motive, moral or main ideas. This will help teachers see of students are understanding definitions and if they are understanding the story.
Visual Image
Being able to make a visual image helps students understand what is happening in a story and recall what was read. Read a story to students, not showing any pictures. After reading have students draw an image of the story that they visualized during the reading. Before reading be sure to tell students to be thinking about an image to draw.
