Partner Read
Have students read with a partner. This helps both students when it comes to being fluent readers. If one student doesn't know a word, the other student might know the word and they can tell the other student. This also lets students interact with their peers and learn from each other and not just the teacher.
Fluency Roll
Have short passages for students to read; about 4 or 5. Number each passage so the students can identify which passage they will be reading. Have them roll a die and which ever number it lands on, thats the passage they are reading. Have the students roll the die until they have read each passage three time. Have students keep track of the passages and how many times they read each one.
