Consonants First
Have flashcards with all of the consonants. Daily go through the consonants with the students so they become familiar with them. Once the become familiar with the consonants, students can start froming words with the consonant letters and sounds that they have learned.
Short Vowel Missing
Have laminated sentence strips with different CVC words. students then can go through the words and write the correct short vowel. There should be a picture of the object on top, with three spaces underneath with the first letter printed and the last letter printed. The answer should be on the back of the card so students are able to independently check to see if they had the right vowel.
